Russian olivewood is considered to be an invasive species in some parts of the country.  If you don't want it, let me know!!  This small bowl has just the right amount of sapwood showing on the one side making the grain that much more beautiful.  It measures 5" in diameter and 3" tall.  Food safe finish.  

This thick-walled, black walnut bowl is ready for any season and will be a conversation piece in anyone's home.  With an open front, a 2 zebrawood and leather toggles keep everything warmed up during the colder months and can be unbuttoned when the weather warms up.  This piece measures 10" wide and stands 6" tall. 

If you haven't noticed by now, I like cherry, and I'm hoping you do as well.  This bowl has a natural edge which also means the grain follows the curvature of the bowl.  It measures 7" in diameter and stands 3" tall.  Food safe finish.

Box elder, to some, is considered to be "trash wood".  (If your trash happens to be box elder, give it to me and watch what I can do with it!!)  This vase is amazingly light weight and obviously absolutely stunning.  It measures 7" in diameter and stands almost 9" tall.   If this is to be used as a planter with soil/water, a liner should be used.

This football shaped bowl, made of mahogany and maple, will fit into any party regardless of which team you're rooting for.  Although it is highly recommended against using this as an actual football, it does come with its own kicking tee made out of padauk. The bowl measures almost 14" long by 9" wide. Food safe finish. 

Quite appropriate that one of the five phases of Chinese belief is wood.  This bowl exemplifies the natural concepts of Yin and Yang while bringing its own beauty.  The contrasting woods are maple and wenge.  The bowl measures 7-1/2" in diameter and is almost 3-1/2" tall.  Food safe finish.  (Not for holding liquids.) 

Here's some more "trash wood", according to some.  Once again, the beauty of box elder and its natural, red flame colors is without comparison to most other woods.  This bowl measures about 8-1/2" in diameter and is 3-1/2" tall.  Food safe finish. 

Sometimes the beads on the rim go around the outside of the bowl; sometimes they go on the top.  On bowls similar to this, some people thought they were actually getting 3 nested bowls.  (Sorry, the rim won't come apart like that.)  As in all of my work, there is no artificial color added to this bowl.  The dark lines are a natural phenomenon called spalting.  The colors run throughout the bowl.  This bowl measures just over 9" in diameter and 3" tall.  Food safe finish. 

These Sabbath candlesticks represent much more than the Jewish commandment of remembering the Sabbath day to keep it holy.  If you look closely, you will notice on one side of the candlestick, the top line of the Star of David is a solid row of different colored segments while the middle segment of the other side matches the background. The middle segment of the bottom line also matches the background color on both sides.

This was done intentionally.  Had I left all of the middle segments in the background color, there would have been 614 segments of that color in the center column. By removing one, it represents the 613 commandments of Judaism.

As well, please note two things:

1 - There is no finish at all on these candlesticks. It is my hope that through repeated usage over the years, the oils from your hands will enhance the beauty of the candlesticks just as the light of the candles enhances the Shabbat. 

2 - These should be used only with metal candle liner/holders made for Shabbat candles.

Some people think that knots in wood means that it goes to the fireplace pile.  I think it is an opportunity to accentuate what mother nature has put there for us to appreciate.  The center of this knot is filled with brass and epoxy - not so much as to be distracting; just enough to add more subtle beauty.  This bowl measures almost 9" in diameter and 3" tall.  Food safe finish. 

Open segment bowls add so much character to any home's decor.  The open segments give an appearance of lightness.  The bowls are often called baskets as well.  (Feel free to call it what you wish.)  If placed near a window, the shadows created change throughout the day.  (You can even see some of the shadow pattern to the left of the bowl in the picture.)  The vast array of colors in the canarywood is easily accented by the purpleheart diamond. With a food safe finish and the openness of the bowl, this makes a perfect way to have fresh fruit out on the countertop throughout the year.  Bowl measures 9" in diameter and is 4-1/2" tall.

This beautiful, burl capped vessel is a see it, to believe it.  The vessel is completed by a mahogany ring separating the top from the bottom. The additional contrast of the lighter (sap wood) and darker (old growth) of the body is different as the vessel is rotated.  Outside diameter is about 4-1/2" and the overall height is 8".
